Gorgeous Master Bath Renovation on a Budget in Wildwood Missouri

A Wildwood Missouri couple desperately wanted to renovate their master bathroom, but they were on a strict budget.

AptitudeDesign & Build, with some common sense, and the skill to know what to keep and what to toss, was able to build them a dream master suite within the renovation budget.

“Luckily for this couple, the original bathroom had been thoughtfully laid out, and the family liked the existing tub enough to keep it,” said Matt Mierek, owner of AptitudeDesign & Build. “Because the plumbing did not need to be moved, we were able to focus the bathroom renovation budget on the finishes.”

Luxury bathroom vanity cabinets

The homeowners selected shaker style cabinets with an espresso finish to anchor the look and feel of the bathroom.
Unlike the old vanities that butted right up to the bath tub and gave bathers the feeling of being walled in, the new vanities are smaller and step down to a seat-height cabinet where they meet the tub. These cabinets have open shelves that provide a perfect spot to store and display towels.

Granite surfaces

Throughout the room, the surfaces are an elegant Colombian granite that features swirls of cream, brown and gold. Picking up on the color pallet of the granite, the couple chose rubbed bronze faucets and a glass mosaic tile. The mosaic tile encases the curve of the bath tub and has been installed as a backsplash.

Indulgent shower with bench

The shower got a complete upgrade too. The old shower was walled off from the rest of the room and accessed through a narrow door.

As part of the bathroom renovation, AptitudeDesign & Build carpenters removed the shower wall and replaced it with a frameless, glass wall and door enclosure. This makes the room feel expansive. A decorative mosaic panel of glass tile, similar to the mosaic around the bath tub, is inset into the honed, travertine tile on the shower wall.

The shower faucet and a useful handheld shower match the rubbed bronze faucets used on the vanities and bathtub. The new shower also has a convenient bench.

New bathroom light fixtures

To complete the bathroom, AptitudeDesign & Build’s electrician installed a programmable, heated travertine tile floor, a chandelier over the bathtub and new light fixtures over the vanities.

The walls are a rich cappuccino color that not only compliments the finishes but also gives the space the feeling of calm and elegant luxury.

Despite a small budget, this remodeled master bathroom is beautiful, and the homeowners love their new space.
