Kitchen and Basement Remodel

The Blakely family was searching for a construction company capable of handling a major renovation that included the kitchen, two bathrooms, and the basement. They were pleased to find Aptitude Design and Build.

The couple trusted Aptitude’s design expertise and provided input throughout the project. Aptitude was free to develop concepts and designs for each area, which were then presented to the family for feedback and approval.

The kitchen was completely redesigned, with all elements relocated to new spots, creating a blank canvas. The top priority was efficiency; the team looked at how to maximize the space before focusing on the design. Some construction companies prioritize design first, which can significantly increase costs. The new kitchen features a custom-made oven hood crafted from forged metal, complimented by unique sconce lighting next to it. Additionally, the circular peninsula off the large island was custom-cut and designed to meet the family’s specific needs.

The master bathroom was expanded for improved usability and efficiency. It includes a steam shower with multiple shower heads and heated floors. The bathroom also features his-and-her vanities, one of which contains a washer and dryer to maximize space.

In the basement, everything was gutted except for the drywall. Aptitude Design andBuild transformed the space into a gym and revamped the bar, giving it the look of an old-world speakeasy. The dome ceiling was painted gold, and LED lighting was added for a stunning effect. The cabinetry and lighting around the TV were custom-designed with a sports theme in mind.
